Bored of training

Okay, so I´m a little behind. We´ve been pretty busy. Since everyone found out their sites, and came back from their sites, we talked a lot about our experiences. Other than that, it seemed like noone wanted to do anything (because we´re almost done with training aka high school), and I can´t remember everything, so here are the highlights.

I spoke to Pilar and Macaly (security guy) on Monday and they said they would find me another route for the bus. That was Monday and I still don´t know. I had my last oral exam for Spanish, and guess what... my level didn´t change - I´m still Advanced Low. My biggest challenge in Spanish recently has been to master the subjunctive. We´ve been learning it in Spanish class (at least when I´ve been there) but when I had the exam, I was pretty beat from lack of sleep I did perfectly well AVOIDING it because I didn´t even consider using it. Oh well, we have RECONNECT in 3 months where we all get together again for a week to talk about the first 3 months of hell- oh sorry, I meant our sites (I know it will be tough initially because I barely know anyone there). At reconnect we get some more Spanish classes and another Spanish oral. I hope I bump up a level then - I would hope so because that´s all I´ll be speaking in Oratorio.

My family got a new puppy. Check out the pics.

Pilar came back to see us on Thursday. It happened that all the current business volunteers that were out in the field came back for IST - In Service Training. Thursday we got to sit with the volunteers and learn about and discuss different issues they have in the field and what not. Apparently Cindy, the PC Guatemala director, was planning on coming by for lunch, and was to buy pizza for all the volunteers. We called all our host moms then and told them not to send us food. Then Cindy called back and to tell us she´s not buying pizza for the kids, oh sorry I meant to say trainees. We had to call our host moms again and let them know now to go ahead and bring food, or we´d be hungry. Cindy arrived with the pizza and told all of us trainees she wanted to have a private lunch with the volunteers. Anyways, to make things better, Derick and James collected all of our wonderful tortillas, and walked in on their meeting and offered the tortillas to them. I didn´t actually walk in the room, but I´m told Cindy had this wonderful look of disgust on her face.

Next week we have classes on Monday, visit to the PC office in the capital on Tuesday, swearing in on Wednesday, and Thursday and Friday are our last days in the training center and our counterparts (the local person we will be working with in our sites) will come and visit us before we head back to our sites.
