Acid Reflux!
You´ll never believed what happened. I was supposed to cook dinner for my family on Thursday night. I was going to cook some adobo (Filipino chicken dish) with rice and maybe some mashed potatoes. Unfortunately my Spanish teacher found me at 4:30pm and told me I had to finish correcting my Spanish resume and have it ready for the next day. I already had to work on a presenation and a paper based on my community integration. I finished her assignment and rushed back to the house. Unfortunately, it was 6 by the time I got home, and it was too late to cook this chicken dish, and I still had to work on this community integration stuff. Doña ´tencia wasn´t home, and it takes at least an hour to two hours to make it the way I wanted to. We settled for mashed potatoes and black beans from a can on tostadas. I was really hungry so I guess I ate my fill, and crashed right away, only to wake up at 3am with extreme chest and throat pains. Once 5am came around, I told my host mom I wasn´t going to the training center, and I was going to rest some more. One of the guardians came to scoop me up and then took me to the capital. I went to the PC main office. Unfortunately, it was a busy day because everyone plans their medical appointments when something big is going on, so they can get out of their sites a day early- there´s a July 4 party tomorrow. The office was full of volunteers, so I had the opportunity to meet a few of them. Finally saw the nurse, and man it seemed like she didn´t want to do anything. I had to ask her to check my blood pressure and my pulse. She just gave me a bottle of Maalox and called it a day. I´m fine now I guess, but I had to wait until late in the afternoon to go back. Two other trainees from my group were also in the capital. Dan was getting his bandages removed from his broken nose (it´s now better) and John came in for a meeting that noone showed up to.
On a side note, if you see some pictures on the site that have a guy with bandages around his nose, that´s Dan. We played football (soccer) against the local team in Santa Lucia and beat them! Unfortunately, our goaley (Dan) broke his nose on John´s shin (he was on our team, and don´t ask me how). It was just a coincidence we were all in the capital today.
Anyways, that´s all for now!
