DC!!!!!!

So I landed in DC on Sunday, and hung out with my cousin Anju. She gave a great quick tour of some of the sites, and then we met up w/ Quyen @ Five Guys. If anyone of y'all haven't heard of it, it's the best burger place around. It's a small local chain of burger joints, something that has the local fame of In and Out (Southern Cali).

I still had some last minute shopping to do, and then I showed up @ the Doubletree for training. There were 27 that showed up for training (the 28th was a no-show). After one day, one girl went home on her own accord, so we're down to 26. Training was a lot of fun! For my friends @ LSG, it was something similar to our change management seminar we had in February last year, except catered toward Peace Corps. Basically we learned about development issues in developing countries, case studies, Peace Corps policies and rules, safety issues, culture issues, etc. but it was generic (not catered to Guatemala specifically). We played games, icebreakers and performed skits too. I´d go into the skits I performed in, but you wouldn't get it if you weren't there.

We got a nice allowance to cover our meals, etc. and even drank some beer with my fellow trainess both nights. we took a few pics but I'll repost this with the link another time and update the stats below...

Trainees in my group - 26
Current # of volunteers in Guatemala - 197
ratio of men to women serving in Guatemala right now - 40%:60%
