Stephen´s visit to Guatemala

Stephen came to visit me this week. Easter week (actually Easter weekend and the wk after all the craziness) and I happened to be in the height of my illness. I don´t know what happened but in addition to being weak, fatigued, with fever, and with headaches, I was puking my guts out, visiting the bathroom multiple times, and sneezing and coughing. We spent entirely too much time in Antigua (because I was sick), but at least he had my friends to keep him company. Semana Santa is probably the heavist tourist traffic time in Guatemala (in addition to Christmas/New Years). Antigua was literally packed. They had heaps of Easter parades, what they called carpets that were made from colored sand and what not. There are lots of pictures of these. We made it to the lake for a day, and visited Maximon. After that, we ended up in here Oratorio, and chilled for a bit. We ended up at Derick´s beachfront house (almost) on Las Lisas and enjoyed some cold beers, fresh shrimp, and warm water. We finished off the trip making another trip to Volcano Pacaya. This was the 4th time I´ve been to the volcano, but it was different. We couldn´t go on top of the cone, because it was too active. We did get to see some lava flows, and walk on top of them. We celebrated his birthday in Antigua Friday night in style with some chilled cervezas!

The pictures are here
WARNING: I look entirely WAY too skinny in these pictures
