Stomach troubles - if you can't take this, skip this one!
For two weeks, I've been running to the bathroom, as you can see in my post on the 12th...
It went away after a day, and then it's been a race since then. Gotta love PC, no you don't need to come in the office, just keep taking the rehydration solution. Oh by the way, during training the nurses told us to avoid taking Pepto but they gave it to us anyways. Apparently it's a threat to your intestines, and it's just better to take rehydration solution and let "it flush itself out". Not for two weeks! For two weeks I had the worst stomach aches and multiple trips to the bathroom and heard the same thing again from the nurse.
Finally I decided on Thursday morning, we were about to go to Guate, so I'll go to the office, even tho the nurse keeps telling me not to worry about it. And guess what? Those f***ers left me here. They told me to come at 8am, and I showed up at 7:15 am and they had already left. I called them and they were like, oh well we had to leave. So I said I'll just take the bus. Thankfully Doña Ana is very nice, and she pushed on them to wait for me in the next town. I was able to just take the bus to Cuilapa and met them.
At the office, the only thing the nurse did was give me a cup and sent me to the hospital. The results came back negative. She said come back Friday and try it again. I didn't feel like coming back but I didn't have anything with me that I could just crash in Guate so I had to listen to these 2 around 60 year old guys keep making farting noises all the way back to Oratorio.
Friday, I took the bus in and guess what. The results came back negative. I was given two options... take Pepto for 5 days and see what happens or she would treat me for giardia. Didn't she tell us NOT to take Pepto? The 2nd option didn't seem too appealing because I didn't have a fever, nausea, and I wasn't throwing up (symptoms of it). So I opted for the first option. I didn't feel like going back to Oratorio so I called Calin and he said he'd meet me at Tikal Futura.
Larry and I shared a taxi to Tikal Futura (where he was staying), and we had a cup of coffee while I waited for Calin and Mauricio to show up. Anyways, Don Efraín called me, and told me to come back to Oratorio so we could do inventory Saturday. As much as I would've really wanted to tell him to shove it and shouldn't have to work on weekends (PC tells us we only have to work M-F till 5pm and that's all), I was polite, and pulled the safety card - I didn't feel like traveling by bus to Oratorio at night, so I'd help with inventory in the farmacia on Monday.
I was tired of being sick, so I decided I should look for a fridge.. If I can even cook one meal daily, I have less chance of getting sick again. I've made a big mistake during the first 3 months. I thought Efraín and Gildardo were gonna help me get my stuff. In 3 months, they've helped me, but very little. So Found one and a closet at HiperPaís (Guatemalan version of Wal-Mart) for a decent price. Saturday, we went to visit Marcos, a friend of Calin's. He was so awesome, and barely even knows me. Marcos asked his other buddy if he could borrow his pickup so we could pick up my furniture and fridge from Hiper. We went and picked it up and left it at Calin's house in Guate. I can pick them up the next time I come in town with Gildardo and Efraín, maybe on the 2nd.
